BE POSITION AND READY TO START BY: 5:45 P.M. PARADE STEP OFF: 6:00 – 6:15 P.M. DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: AUGUST 16 Saturday PARADE THEME: Lights, Cameras, Action - A Night At The Movies! 1. Commercial entries (described as any business or organization that operates for profit) must pay a $75.00 entry fee for a non-float vehicle or a $50.00 entry fee if your business is building a float. Commercial tractor trailer entries must pay a $80.00 entry fee. Due to safety concerns, unless a tractor trailer is the only way to advertise your business, we ask that you consider a smaller vehicle. 2. Due to limited parade assembly space, restriction on the length and time limit for road closures, entries may be cut off before the deadline on August 20. 3. Parade entries can in no way be used to generate revenue for any business or organization other than your own. For example, if you are a non-profit group, you cannot advertise commercial businesses on your entry. 4. A unit is classified as a single vehicle or marching unit. Each entrant is allowed to enter a single unit per entry fee. 5. RAIN DATE: In case of rain, the decision to postpone the parade will be made on Wednesday by 2:00 p.m. and announced on local radio stations or call 786-2151 x 2266. 6. NO ARTICLES OF ANY KIND WILL BE THROWN FROM UNITS DURING THE PARADE. IF YOU DESIRE TO ADVERTISE IN THIS WAY, YOU MUST PROVIDE PERSONNEL TO DISTRIBUTE FROM THE EDGE OF THE STREET WHERE CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ENTERING THE ROADWAY TO RETRIEVE ARTICLES. YOU WILL BE EJECTED IMMEDIATELY AND HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL LIABILITY AND INJURIES SHOULD THIS RULE BE VIOLATED! PLEASE HELP US PROTECT OUR CHILDREN AND PARADE WATCHERS. 7. The parade will assemble at the fairgrounds. The day before the parade, the contact person will be notified of the entry’s position in the parade and will be instructed to assemble on the upper ball field, or South Park Ave. If you are to assemble on South Park Ave. please enter South Park Ave. from Rt. 222 between the Presbyterian Retirement Community and the Quarryville Cemetery. ALL OTHER ENTRIES please enter South Park Ave. from Rt. 472 (Lime Street) Please give the map and instructions to your parade entry driver. NOTE: The committee request all entries that do not need to go back to the ball field, to exit the parade route by continuing south on 472 past the fair ground. 8. New Rule When dropping off parade participates you must use the back entrance to the fair ground parking area which is on 472. Do not attempt to enter by the pool or main stone pillar entrances to the park. They will be open only to parade vehicles! 9. Group entries please take note: We strongly encourage car pooling or assembling at the Smith Middle School and then riding the shuttle bus to the fairgrounds. It is very important that the number of vehicles dropping off parade participants be reduced! Please have an agreed upon meeting place at the end of the parade to avoid confusion in finding your participants and families. 10. Special requests for a position in the parade will be considered and every effort to comply will be made. Please make these requests early to allow time for consideration. 11. PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE : Judges will pre-evaluate the floats on the upper ball field prior to the parade. The final judging will be done at the beginning of the parade route at the judge’s stand. Judges area will be marked on the street. 12. Last but very important – all parade vehicles must be operated by a license driver with a valid driver’s license.
