Judges – To Be Announced Judging – Wednesday

RULES

1. ALL ARTICLES MUST BE PREPARED BY THE EXHIBITOR. No premiums for Commercial products.

2. Entries will be accepted between noon and 10 PM Tuesday.

3. Each of the classes shall be open to exhibitors under nineteen years of age, with separate equal premiums to be awarded these entrants. Exceptions are the following classes: The PEQAP Angel Food Cake Contest, the Hershey's Cocoa Classic: Chocolate Cake Baking Contest and the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest. Exhibitors under 19 years of age may compete with adults in these classes.

4. No baked product accepted that needs refrigeration. This includes cream cheese frostings and fillings.

5. Please use a plastic bag or disposable plastic container to preserve the freshness and appearance of your baked product entry when possible.

6. Recipes that are required to accompany entries in special contests should be typed or neatly printed on one side of an 8 1/2" x 11" size paper and include ingredients and instructions.

7. All entries in the Baked Products Selection, except those portions kept for exhibit will be on sale in the Hoffman Community Building immediately after the judging Wednesday afternoon. All remaining baked products will be auctioned at 4 PM in the Hoffman Community Building. The Quarryville Fire Company Auxiliary will be in charge of the sale, auction, and proceeds.

8. Baked Goods to be judged on:

B. Sensory qualities (aroma, flavor, moistness/consistency and texture)

C. Decorated cakes will be judged on appearance only.

Judging – Wednesday – 9 AM Entries – Tuesday – Noon – 10 PM

Entries may not be removed before 10 PM Friday. The Fair Management is not responsible for

spoilage of any canned or cured products during the exhibition.

RULES

1. To ensure a uniform exhibit, all canned and dried goods must be in a clear pint or

quart canning jars. Mayonnaise jars will be disqualified.

2. All jars must have standard two piece canning lid and ring free from rust. Any

unsealed jars will be disqualified. All products should be processed according to

manufacturer recommendations.

3. All items entered must include a label. The label shall include the following: Name and

variety of food, date the food was processed, method of processing, length of time the

food was processed, ideal would be to include the recipe and it's source.

4. Each exhibitor must have canned or prepared the article exhibited since last year’s fair.

5. Each of the classes shall also be open to exhibitors under nineteen years of age,

with separate equal premiums to be awarded these entrants.

6. Exhibitors may enter in as many classes or subdivisions of classes as they wish, but

shall not make more than one entry of same subdivision, nor can they win more

than one prize of the same subdivision.

7. Items that are not listed in a class will not be judged. Judges have the option of opening and

tasting any item.

General Appearance – All products shall be properly cleaned, and if pared, all skins should be removed.

All pieces should be uniform in size. If cut, have edges clean and even. Food should have as natural

color as possible. Arrange food neatly but do not pack too loose or too tight. Product should be canned

at the right stage, such as snap beans free from strings and large beans, tomatoes of a good red color,

corn that is young and tender, carrots and beets that are small, young and tender, and fruits that are not

overripe.

Quality – Liquid clear and free of small pieces, no discoloration or gas bubble due to decomposition.

Product should have retained its shape, have a good color, and free of blemishes and bruises.

Container – Clean Container, suitably sealed.
